What you will be doing:

• Perform accounting functions like recording, analyzing, and classifying payables, account reconciliation, and other tasks related to the procure-to-pay process.
• Process all check and ACH check runs on schedule for accounts payable.
• Ensure company integrity when processing check runs.
• Verify AFBA cash position before processing checks.
• Obtain management approval before mailing checks.
• Process remote check payments.
• Process all special handling checks including FedEx, check enclosures, and special mailings.
• Process zero checks as required.
• Review returned checks for address or vendor corrections.
• Review and balance positive pay reports, research and resolve discrepancies.
• Meet internal control and SOX compliance requirements.
• Identify duplicate payments and significant high dollar amounts from pay runs before disbursement.

Experience you will need:

• Completion of a High School diploma.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Accounting which includes experience in Accounts Payable.
• Lawson experience is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and personal initiative.
• Detail-oriented and highly analytical.
• Ability to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks, and work as part of a team as well as independently.
• Strong interpersonal and organization skills.
• Excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, quiet work environment.
