Why ERP hiring takes longer than most IT searches

ERP hiring is different from general IT hiring because the skills aren't easily interchangeable. Someone with years of SAP FI/CO experience can't simply step into a Workday HCM or Oracle ERP role. Most employers need a very specific mix of platform, module, industry, and implementation experience, which naturally limits the number of qualified candidates.

That talent pool has become even smaller as more companies move to modern ERP platforms. For example, SAP's 2027 end of mainstream support for ECC has accelerated S/4HANA migration projects, increasing demand for experienced consultants. Most of those professionals are already working on active implementations and aren't applying for new jobs.

That's why job boards often fall short for ERP hiring. The person you're looking for is usually already employed. Finding them takes proactive outreach, industry relationships, and recruiters who understand the platform, modules, and experience your business actually needs.

ERP roles our recruiters fill

SAP Functional Consultants (FI/CO, SD, MM, PP, SAP HCM and SuccessFactors), SAP ABAP Developers, SAP Solution Architects, S/4HANA Migration Leads, SAP Basis Administrators, Oracle Cloud ERP, Fusion, and E-Business Suite (EBS) Consultants, Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations and Business Central) specialists, NetSuite Administrators and Developers, and Infor, Epicor, IFS, and Sage consultants.

Workday HCM, Payroll, and Financial Management Consultants, Salesforce Administrators, Developers (Apex/LWC), and Solution Architects across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and CPQ, SAP SuccessFactors specialists, UKG professionals, and ServiceNow (ITSM, HRSD) consultants.

Data Migration Specialists, Master Data Management (MDM) Consultants, Systems Integration Specialists (MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Azure Integration Services, SAP CPI and PI/PO), ERP Reporting and Analytics professionals (SAP BW/4HANA, Oracle Analytics Cloud, Workday Prism, and Power BI), and Business Intelligence Developers supporting ERP-connected data environments.

ERP Project Managers, ERP Delivery Managers, Program Managers, PMO Leads, Solution Architects, Enterprise Architects, Digital Transformation Directors, and ERP Practice Directors supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, cloud migrations, and long-term platform ownership.

As an ERP recruitment agency, we support hiring for enterprise organizations, consulting firms, software partners, and businesses modernizing finance, HR, supply chain, operations, and customer experience systems. How we recruit ERP professionals

1

Every search starts with the project

The first step is understanding your project and what success looks like. A greenfield implementation, an S/4HANA migration, a Workday rollout, and a post-go-live support hire all call for different experience. That's what helps us deliver a stronger shortlist.

2

We screen for experience you can't see on a resume

We're more interested in what someone has actually done than what's listed after their name. We look at the ERP modules they've worked with, the projects they've delivered, and the responsibilities they owned from planning through go-live.

3

We hire for the environment, not just the platform

The right ERP professional isn't defined by SAP, Oracle, or Workday alone. Industry experience, project stage, company size, and business processes all shape whether someone will succeed. We focus on candidates whose experience closely matches the environment they're walking into.

Frequently asked questions

Not every ERP talent pool is the same. Finding an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Analyst is very different from finding a SAP S/4HANA Finance Architect with multiple full-cycle implementations or a Workday Payroll Lead who has managed large enterprise deployments.

Some specialties simply have fewer qualified professionals available. SAP S/4HANA is a good example, as many organizations are replacing legacy ECC systems at the same time, creating strong demand for consultants with proven migration experience.

Rather than giving every client the same timeline, we estimate each search based on the platform, specialization, and the current talent market.

Our ERP recruiters support hiring across SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite, Workday, Salesforce, Infor, Epicor, UKG, ServiceNow, and other enterprise platforms. If you're specifically looking for SAP recruiters, Workday recruiters, or Salesforce recruiters, you'll work with a recruiter who understands that platform and the hiring market around it.

We recruit across SAP (S/4HANA, ECC, BW/4HANA), Oracle (Cloud ERP, EBS, Fusion), Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite, Workday (HCM, Payroll, Financial Management), Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, CPQ), Infor, Epicor, UKG, and ServiceNow.

Platform experience is only part of the equation. Hiring a Workday Payroll Consultant is very different from hiring a SAP S/4HANA Finance Lead or a Salesforce Solution Architect. Every search is built around the platform, the modules involved, and where your organization is in its implementation journey.

An ERP recruiter, sometimes called an ERP staffing agency or ERP recruitment agency, helps organizations hire professionals who implement, optimize, support and lead enterprise platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce, and ServiceNow.

Some ERP staffing firms focus primarily on supplying contract consultants for short-term projects. At ExpertHiring, we also help employers hire permanent and contract professionals who are already working on active implementations or supporting live systems. Most aren't applying for jobs. We reach out when there's a genuine opportunity that aligns with their experience and career goals.

It depends on where your business is today.

If you're in the middle of an implementation, migration, or transformation, consultants often bring the advantage of having delivered similar projects across multiple organizations.

If your system is already live, an in-house ERP professional is often the better fit. They understand long-term system ownership, business processes, stakeholder relationships, and continuous improvement.

The best choice depends on what you need the person to accomplish over the next few years, not just the title on the job description.

In many cases, it's more important than the platform itself. Two SAP consultants may both have ten years of experience, but if one has spent their career in SuccessFactors and the other specializes in S/4HANA Finance, they're solving completely different business problems. The same applies to every major ERP platform. A Workday HCM Consultant and a Workday Payroll Specialist may work in the same system, but their expertise isn't interchangeable.

Before we begin a search, we define the modules, integrations, and business processes that matter most. That's where meaningful screening starts.

Salary is part of the conversation, but it's rarely the deciding factor. Experienced ERP professionals also look at the scope of the implementation, the stability of the project, leadership, remote and travel expectations, growth and the technologies they'll be working with once they join.

If those conversations only happen after an offer is made, there's a much greater chance the candidate walks away. We discuss those topics throughout the recruiting process so both sides understand the opportunity well before a final decision is made.
