ICU nurses we recruit

Critical Care RNs

New-to-specialty ICU RNs through experienced critical care nurses with 5-15+ years of unit-specific practice. Includes CCRN-certified nurses for Magnet facilities and hospitals with advanced credentialing requirements.

ICU nursing specialties

Medical ICU (MICU), Surgical ICU (SICU), Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU/CICU), Cardiothoracic ICU (CT-ICU), Pediatric ICU (PICU), Neuro/Neurosurgical ICU (NSICU), Trauma ICU, Burn ICU, Mixed/General ICU, Rapid Response nurses, Float Pool ICU nurses, and Charge ICU RNs.

Hospital settings we recruit for

Academic Medical Centers, Magnet Hospitals, Level I and II Trauma Centers, Children's Hospitals, Cardiovascular and Cardiac Surgery Hospitals, Comprehensive Stroke Centers, Community Hospitals, Teaching Hospitals, Specialty Surgical Hospitals, and Multi-campus Health Systems.

We don't send ICU nurses who need to learn your unit from scratch

We reach employed ICU RNs directly - nurses who are working, credentialed, and unit-stable but open to the right permanent opportunity. Before a candidate is introduced, we confirm:

Active RN license
Verified with the appropriate state board of nursing, not taken from a resume
ICU sub-specialty match
MICU, SICU, CICU/CVICU, CT-ICU, PICU, NICU, Neuro ICU, Trauma ICU, or Burn ICU, matched to your unit's patient population and acuity
Core clinical competencies
Ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, vasopressor titration, sedation protocols, arterial line management, central line care, and ACLS confirmed before presentation
Advanced equipment and procedure experience
CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, and Swan-Ganz catheter management confirmed where required by the role
CCRN certification status
Verified where applicable, flagged for Magnet-requirement roles, along with direct ICU hours in the past two years for eligibility documentation
Unit tenure and employment history
How long they stayed on each unit and why they left, because unit-specific depth matters in a way a resume doesn't always show
Reason for exploring a move
We distinguish burnout-driven exits from nurses genuinely ready for a long-term commitment, because the two look identical on paper
Scheduling preferences and shift flexibility
Confirmed as genuine, not aspirational
Compensation expectations
Aligned early to avoid offer-stage surprises
Start date, notice period and more
Including whether their current unit is likely to make a counteroffer once they resign
None of this replaces your interview. We make it more valuable by handling the qualification checks first, so you can focus on clinical judgment, communication, team fit, and long-term potential.

ICU nurse hiring becomes difficult long before you start interviewing candidates

Matching nurses to the right ICU isn’t just about experience. It’s about making sure they’re stepping into a patient population and clinical environment they’re already comfortable managing.

CCRN certification, awarded by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), requires 1,750 hours of direct critical care practice - 875 of which must fall within the year prior to application. Many Magnet hospitals either require or strongly prefer it, so we verify CCRN status and critical care experience before introducing candidates.

Many hospitals still rely on travel nurses to cover critical care nurse staffing gaps, often at bill rates exceeding $100 per hour, while the permanent ICU nurses they're hoping to hire are already working full time. They're caring for patients in a medical, surgical, or cardiac ICU, not actively searching job boards.

Every permanent ICU nurse you hire means one less shift to fill with travel staff. It also gives your team more consistency and helps keep experienced nurses in the unit. That's why our ICU RN staffing approach focuses on reaching employed critical care nurses who aren't actively applying elsewhere.

If you're filling other nursing roles across the same system, our team recruits CNAs, LPNs, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Charge Nurses through the same direct-outreach process.

Frequently asked questions

Before introducing a candidate, we match their background to your unit, including the patient population, acuity level, equipment, and clinical responsibilities they manage every day. For cardiac ICU roles, that may include IABP, Swan-Ganz catheters, and vasopressor management. For Neuro ICU positions, we look for experience with ICP monitoring and the NIH Stroke Scale.

Most ICU searches produce a first shortlist within 72 to 96 hours. More specialized roles, including CICU, CT-ICU, Burn ICU, and Pediatric ICU, typically take 10 to 20 days because the candidate pool is much smaller.

What often has the biggest impact isn't sourcing, it's hiring speed. Experienced ICU nurses are usually considering more than one opportunity, and delaying an offer after a strong interview can mean losing the candidate.

Many experienced ICU nurses aren't actively looking for a new role. They're already working in a Surgical ICU, Cardiac ICU, or another critical care unit and aren't spending time on job boards.

Our recruiters build relationships with those nurses over time and reach out individually when there's a genuine fit. The conversation is based on their experience and what your hospital offers, not a generic recruiting message.

Absolutely. A permanent search doesn't replace your travel nurses overnight. It runs alongside your existing staffing strategy while building a pipeline of long-term hires.

Over time, every permanent ICU nurse can reduce dependence on travel staffing, improve unit stability, and shorten the onboarding cycle that comes with rotating travelers.

Our searches are contingency based, so there are no upfront fees. We charge a percentage of the candidate's first-year base salary, and you only pay after a successful placement.

If you'd like to understand the market before starting a search, we can also provide a snapshot of ICU candidate availability, CCRN talent in your area, and current compensation expectations at no cost.

We check for licensure and credentials, but we also go further. Our recruiters discuss recent direct ICU experience, CCRN status where relevant, the reason someone is considering a move, counteroffer risk, scheduling preferences, and long-term career goals.

Those conversations are what our intensive care nurse staffing process is built around - everything that happens before a resume reaches your desk.
